Please accept our apologies. We are unfortunately postponing this event and will be running it in the Autumn term.

In this Media session, Professor Su Holmes from the School of Art, Media and American Studies at University of East Anglia will run an interactive talk for students on The Language of Morning TV – Talk, Celebrity, Power.

The study of TV involves all forms of television programming, including those that are often derided or dismissed for their apparent lack of cultural or scholarly value. This session will examine ‘morning talk’ on contemporary British television, focusing on issues of language, gender and celebrity. It will explore the gendering of morning talk on TV, the textual construction of television talk, and the celebrity performance of ‘authenticity’ and intimacy, encouraging students to see this everyday form of television culture in new ways.
