Linking Universities and
Businesses to Schools

Covid-19 School Closures - Channel Talent At Home

As of 23 March 2020 we are switching our events so that students are able to access them free from home and university staff can also present from home if required. We will be in contact with schools regularly throughout this period of school closures with event details to share with their students.

In addition to the taster lectures and guidance sessions about studying different degrees at university, we will also be running online HE Fairs, Open Days and Offer Holder Days. These should all be really helpful for schools and colleges looking to offer content to students at home and will hopefully relieve some of the boredom that students in lockdown are likely to suffer, whilst enabling universities to maintain meaningful and productive contact with prospective students.

Schools, please subscribe. Universities, please get in touch via the contact form on this page.

Welcome to Channel Talent

Channel Talent is a live and interactive video conferencing / webinar service which links universities and businesses to schools. Channel Talent beams university lecturers, admissions personnel, university students and apprentices into the school classroom. Groups from between 2 and 5 schools will be involved in each session depending on the type of event.

This is not about online chat forums; this is about actual conversations. Channel Talent aims to inform and inspire young people’s choices about their education and careers by making important conversations possible that, for time, cost and logistical reasons, are often prevented from happening face to face. Events are free to schools and sponsored by individual universities or businesses.

Using simple pc-based technology or video conferencing equipment, a range of universities and businesses now delivers talks, lectures, tutorials, demonstrations, and career advice to an ever expanding network of schools. The sessions are not intended to replace face to face but are designed to complement wider strategic school engagement programmes.

Channel Talent travels digital miles to support organisations’ environmental responsibilities. We were originally set up as an outreach initiative by Bedford School with the University of Sheffield and the Sutton Trust. If you are a school, college, university or business, please contact Channel Talent to get involved or to find out more.
