Extended Project Qualification: Skills & Insight – Developing Academic Writing Skills With Dr Victoria Yuskaitis From University of Southampton
9th March 2023 @ 10:10 - 11:00
In this Extended Project Qualification session, Dr Victoria Yuskaitis from The Learn with US Transition Programme at University of Southampton will run an interactive skills and insight workshop for students on Developing Academic Writing Skills.
This workshop will focus on developing key academic writing skills, in the context of the EPQ qualification. Students will be introduced to the elements that make up a strong argument. They will also identify examples of descriptive vs critical writing, and consider how or when to incorporate these types of writing into their essays.
The session will also cover how to critically evaluate sources, and how to incorporate this analysis into their writing. An introduction to literature reviews is also included in this section.
Finally, students will learn how to get started with writing and how to structure their essays, including discussion of drafting, editing, and proofreading.
