STEM Higher Education & Careers: Thinking About Your Future by Paige Rabey, Imperial College

Paige, an Aeronautics PhD student at Imperial College London, got into aeronautics because of a fascination with flight and the desire to understand more about how this works. She now studies fluid mechanics which describes the behaviour and movement of fluids (usually air), an area in which a lot of exciting work is currently going on leading to greater understanding and practical applications.

In an interactive session, Paige will encourage students to really think about their future in terms of their possible education and career paths. She will explore the subjects that students taking part really enjoy and which interest them whilst considering the longer term implications of pursuing these further. She will highlight some of the key considerations when making these choices.

In addition Paige will offer an insight into university life and study with a focus on STEM subjects. She will use her experiences in engineering as a case study although her talk will have a much wider relevance.
