  • Norwich Business School/University of East Anglia: James Armes, Associate Professor in Accounting in the Norwich Business School at UEA, will explore the first year module ‘Introduction to Financial and Management Accounting’. Using this example, James will bring to life the rich academic content and learning experience at UEA. The module itself provides a foundation in the theory and practice of accounting and an introduction to the role, context and language of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Finance, preparing students for the exciting modules to come. And we will see how students use the latest learning technology, including AI, to practise the theory and demonstrate learning at their own pace.

  • Henley Business School/University of Reading: Dr Maggie Cooper is an Associate Professor in Accounting and the Programme Area Director for Accounting at Henley Business School. With extensive experience in both academia and industry, she is passionate about preparing students for successful careers in accounting and finance. In this talk, Dr. Cooper will provide an overview of the diverse degree programmes offered in both finance and in accounting at Henley Business School. She will highlight key modules from the BSc Accounting and Finance degree, including an exciting new third-year module on Forensic Accounting, which delves into financial fraud investigation, and an innovative first-year module that introduces students to finance through a trading simulation in our fully equipped trading room. This session is a great opportunity to learn more about the structure, content, and unique learning experiences available in our programmes.

right4me is a series of subject specific webinars for Post 16 pre-university students. The sessions support students’ current studies and interests by giving an insight into curriculum areas covered in university modules. In addition, by hearing from 2 universities for 30 minutes each, students will appreciate how the further study of Accounting/Finance can vary between institutions, contributing to the depth of their HE research and assisting informed decision making.

In this session we will be joined by two universities, including the Norwich Business School at University of East Anglia and the Henley Business School at University of Reading, who will begin by exploring the fascinating academic content of their Accounting/Finance degrees.

Each university will then offer an insight into the teaching and learning experience related to their modules and to their Accounting/Finance degrees more generally.

There will be time and opportunity for participation and questions.

Our events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals, either from school or from home. There is no charge to take part.

As a live, participative event, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event, where available.

Suitable for: Aged 16+ pre-university students studying, or with a possible interest in studying, Accounting/Finance and related disciplines. Student groups, and individual students and teachers are very welcome to join us.
