Psychology: How Can Educational Psychology Help You Pass Exams? with Professor Shaaron Ainsworth, University of Nottingham

In this interactive webinar, Professor Shaaron Ainsworth will look at how what psychologists know about how memory works can be used to help students understand the topics they are studying and help them pass exams.
Shaaron will use concepts from A level Psychology to illustrate these points and give short interactive exercises to students to practise the ideas.
It is therefore ideal for students studying Psychology who will be able to see how the A Level concepts they are studying can be applied to understand how students perform in exams, as well as helping them to consider their own approach to preparing for and taking exams. While the session will derive its theory from Psychology, it will also be delivered in a way that will be relevant for all sixth formers.
Suitable for: Year 12s and Year 13s. It will be particularly relevant for students studying Psychology and/or thinking about studying Education or Psychology at university. However, its content will also be relevant and accessible for students studying, and taking exams in, other subjects.
Lecturer Biography: Professor Shaaron Ainsworth
Preparation/Pre-Reading: There is no preparation or pre-reading required for this session although students are encouraged to consider the challenges they face with exams and questions they might like to ask relating to these, or to further study at university.
The IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype, using a pc and webcam, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available to the school/college. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 3 to 5 schools to maintain the interactive nature of the experience.
