DESCRIPTION: \n  \nCOVID19 is a public health crisis\, affecting lives\, lifestyles and livelihoods for people across the planet. \nBut it is more than this – it is a crisis of international politics. \nManaging the crisis globally is a political issue – from travel restrictions\, to access to vaccines\, from cooperation on science to concerns over disease surveillance. \nThese debates on COVID19 did not emerge in a vacuum\, but draw on two decades of initiatives in ‘global health’. \nThis webinar identifies the politics of global health – how it developed\, what it means and what the problems are with the politics of global health. \nThis event is part of Aberystwyth’s Contemporary Issues in International Politics series. \n  \n  \nLecturer Profile (Please Click): Professor Colin McInnes – Aberystwyth University Pro Vice-Chancellor \nSuitable for: Year 12 and 13 students (and equivalent) studying\, or with a possible interest in studying\, Politics and related disciplines. This will also be relevant for Geographers. Teachers are also very welcome to join us. \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: Students may wish to consider the topic and the key elements in advance. Students can also think about questions they have about studying Politics at university level. \nThe IT Setup: The event will be run with one\, smaller\, audience on Bluejeans (similar to Zoom) and a larger audience\, simultaneously\, on Facebook Live. The smaller group in the Bluejeans meeting can engage using their microphones to talk directly to the university academics. The Facebook audience has the ability to ask questions and offer thoughts via comments on Facebook. In both cases\, participants will be able to join using laptops\, tablets\, and mobile devices. \nBooking a Place: This is free for schools and colleges.
