Politics & International Relations: North Korea: Headless Chicken or Hawkish Adversary? by Gilberto Algar-Faria, The University of Bristol

This sessions is aimed at Year 12 and Year 13 students interested in Politics, international relations, international development and international security. Gilberto will discuss various issues relating to North Korea which are pertinent to contemporary international politics and global security. During the hour of interactive discussion, Gilberto will cover:
– The nature of the Kim dynasty
– The structure of North Korean society
– Views of North Koreans
– Background to regional relations
– Recent Developments
– Nuclear development
– Why WMD development is rational.

Preparation/Pre-reading: None required. Students will be asked to share their own thoughts about North Korea and so thinking these through beforehand will be of benefit.
