DESCRIPTION:Register here \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nWhat will you discover about medicines? Join us to carry out your own research experiment and decide which drug candidate to take forward for further study. \nThis session will include an exploration into the field of pharmacology\, understanding how medicines work in the body\, how new targets are identified and new drugs discovered\, along with guidance on degree and career opportunities in this field. \nWe aim to livestream an adaptable lab simulation which will be guided by real time audience drug decision making based on the evidence emerging from the live experiment. \n  \nSpeaker Profile: Dr Leanne Stokes \n\n  \nOur events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals\, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures. \nAs a live\, participative event\, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event\, where available. \n  \nSuitable for: Year 12 & 13 students (and equivalent) studying\, or with a possible interest in studying\, Pharmacology and related disciplines. Student groups as well as students and teachers joining individually are very welcome. \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: Students may wish to consider the topic in advance and questions they have. Students can also think about questions about studying at university level. \nThe IT Setup: The event will be run on Zoom and participants will be able to join using laptops\, tablets\, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group\, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard. You will be able to interact with the university via a microphone and/or typed comments and questions.
