Online Careers Drop-in with Katie Stafford and Karon Van Der Heiden from NG Bailey
10th February 2015 @ 08:00 - 17:00
For individual Yr 11 students with a potential interest in a Construction apprenticeship, NG Bailey is running an online drop-in careers ‘surgery’ on 10th February.
NG Bailey, a national Construction and Engineering company, offers Level 2 and 3 apprenticeships for which the minimum entry requirements are 5 x GCSEs at grades A*-C including English, maths and a science (or dual award science):
•Electrotechnical (Electrical Installation) Advanced Apprenticeship
•Heating and Ventilation Advanced Apprenticeship
•Building Services Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship (Project Management or Design)
•Procurement (Buying) Higher Apprenticeship (L3/4)
This is a different format from other VU sessions as it is based on individuals taking part rather than groups. This recognises that Year 11 is a critical time and Construction is seen as a more specialist area of interest; we therefore avoid trying to get a group together where perhaps only one student is really keen.
As usual however it is about facilitating important conversations rather than providing an online chat forum. On 10th February, your Year 11 student, sitting at a pc with a webcam, will have a 20 minute consultation with Karon and Katie from NG Bailey to discuss the industry and local apprenticeship opportunities in more depth. They will be joined by four students from other schools, whom they will be able to see and hear.
In order to avoid spending the time covering readily available details about NG Bailey, each student will be expected to have visited their website prior to the drop-in NG Bailey Questions and thoughts arising from this background reading can then be covered during the drop-in.
Sessions will be running across the morning. If you can please let VU know the first name/s of the student/s that want to take part with any time constraints that may affect them that morning and we will come back to you with a session time. We can then pick up a conversation with your ICT department about setting up the pc if you haven’t connected with us before.
Please confirm names by 27th January although before that would be most appreciated.
