SUMMARY:MFL/French: University Interactive Talk on La Haine With Dr Reece Goodall From University of Warwick
DESCRIPTION:Register here \n  \n  \n \n  \nIn this MFL/French session\, Dr Reece Goodall from University of Warwick will run an interactive talk for students on La Haine. \nThis interactive session on La Haine aims to offer the context and language to really explore the film in your A-levels. Dr Reece Goodall will talk briefly in English about the banlieues in politics\, culture and film\, before giving some insights into La Haine. We’ll then watch a scene from the film and unpick it together in French and English\, exploring themes and techniques and the kind of analysis that will help you get the higher marks. \nTo get the most from the session\, we recommend that people have watched La Haine in advance. \n  \nLecturer Profile: Dr Reece Goodall \n\n  \nOur events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals\, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures. \nAs a live\, participative event\, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event\, where available. \n  \nSuitable for: Year 12 & 13 students (and equivalent) studying\, or with a possible interest in studying\, MFL/French and related disciplines. Student groups as well as students and teachers joining individually are very welcome. \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: To get the most from the session\, we recommend that people have watched La Haine in advance. Students may wish to consider the film in advance and questions they have. Students can also think about questions about studying at university level. \nThe IT Setup: The event will be run on Zoom and participants will be able to join using laptops\, tablets\, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group\, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard.
