Medicine: How to succeed in your UK medical school application with Dr Ricardo Tavares from The Medic Portal

The application process is daunting and ever-changing. It can be difficult to keep up to date with the latest developments and changes. In this webinar, Dr Ricardo Tavares will provide a comprehensive 45-minute talk, offering an overview of all the steps of the application process. This pays particular attention to timelines and how to boost your Personal Statement.

Speaker Biography: Dr Ricardo Tavares is at the forefront of educating prospective medics and oversees The Medic Portal’s partnerships with hundreds of schools globally. He completed his prize-winning pre-clinical Medicine degree at Oxford University and finished his clinical training at UCL. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education. He has vast medical teaching experience, including roles at Imperial College, The University of Buckingham and is a regular speaker at national careers events.
Preparation or Pre-Reading: There is no specific preparation/pre-reading but we recommend that students think around the subject and consider some questions in advance.
The IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype, using a pc and webcam, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available to the school. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 3 or 4 schools to maintain the interactive nature of the experience.
