Media & Film: Creative Media Production – How Do Actors & Directors Read Film Scripts? University Tutorial With Christabelle Dilks From University of East Anglia
3rd October 2022 @ 15:35 - 16:20
Join Christabelle Dilks for a fascinating in-depth Headliner as she explores the importance of the Script in film and television drama. Imagine you’re a producer or a designer: what clues can you find in the script to help you do your job? Christabelle has a long track-record working for the BBC and Channel 4 and in the Headliner recorded resource which sets the scene for the live tutorial (see below) she explains to students Who’s Who on a Film Set, and demonstrates how the script contains vital clues.
Then, in a live tutorial on Monday 3rd October at 3:35pm, Christabelle invites students to imagine they are actors preparing to perform the central roles in a popular recent TV drama series. Students will learn how to analyse a short scene from the script to discover the hidden structure and character clues it contains. Would-be directors will be invited to imagine how they would direct the scene. An essential session for all budding actors and filmmakers! (See Preparation/Pre-Reading below to download the scene).
The session aims to deepen students’ understanding of the topic whilst enabling them to access and experience a live online university tutorial.
Lecturer Profile (Please Click): Christabelle Dilks worked as an actor at the National Theatre before training as a film director. She worked in film and television for many years as a writer and script-editor before teaching screenwriting and media production at UEA.
