Law/Citizenship: Human Rights & Legal Reasoning by Polly & Kieran, Law Undergraduates at The University of Bristol
3rd February 2015 @ 11:20 - 12:20
A group of students studying Law at the University of Bristol invites Year 9, 10 and 11 school students to a session on human rights and legal reasoning.
This session has been developed by Dr Devyani Prabhat, Lecturer in Constitutional Rights at the University of Bristol. During the hour, the law undergraduates will present some basic concepts of human rights, including proportionality, and engage your students in activities which explore how law is used to solve practical problems.
The style of the session is mainly conversational and it is about creating awareness and stimulating interest about law and human rights and leaving your students with a few concepts to remember. Whilst this topic will directly support issues covered in school in subjects such as Citizenship Studies, PSHE or Religious Studies, it is also hoped that, for some of the students, an interest in studying law may be triggered.
Suitable for: Years 9, 10 & 11.
Preparation/Pre-reading: None required.
