Law: Skills & Insight – Focus on Legal Reasoning With Dr Miranda Bevan From Goldsmiths, University of London
8th November 2022 @ 14:15 - 15:15
In this Law session, Dr Miranda Bevan, a leading academic from Goldsmiths, University of London who previously practised as a criminal barrister, will run an interactive skills and insight workshop for students on Legal Reasoning.
Being a lawyer is all about thinking like a lawyer. In this session students will develop their legal reasoning skills working with real life (fictitious) scenarios. Can they think like a prosecutor and identify whether a defendant should be sent to prison whilst they await their trial? Can they see the incident from the defence perspective and make a good argument for the defendant to be bailed? How should they decide the issue if they were the magistrates hearing the case?
The session will develop skills and approaches to support students in their Law studies and future aspirations.
