History: Understanding The Atlantic Slave Trade With Dr W. Jack Rhoden From Bishop Grosseteste University
15th July 2021 @ 14:15 - 15:15
This session provides an introduction to the transatlantic slave trade with interactive individual/group exercises designed to get students to examine recent research on the total numbers involved and what this slave trade data can tell us about the wider histories of Africa, the Americas and Europe in the early modern period.
The session will enable students to work practically with reliable data to answer big historical questions, such as:
- Why did slave trade happen?
- On what scale?
- Over what time period?
- Who was primarily involved?
- How did it change the world?
