DESCRIPTION:Register here \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nIn this Health & Social Care session\, Dr Panagiotis Pentaris\, Deputy Head of the Department of Social\, Therapeutic and Community Studies at Goldsmiths\, University of London\, will lead an interactive scenario-based workshop on End of Life Care. \nEnd‑of‑life care is one of the most profound\, challenging\, and meaningful areas within health and social care. In this talk\, students are invited to explore what it truly means to support people during the final stages of life. \nDrawing on real‑world practice\, research insights\, and ethical dilemmas\, we will unpack how professionals balance compassion\, communication\, and cultural sensitivity when working with individuals and families at their most vulnerable. \nThe session will highlight the importance of holistic care\, interdisciplinary teamwork\, and emotional resilience\, offering students a window into a field that is both demanding and deeply rewarding. \nWhether you’re considering a future in social work\, psychology\, community work\, or any caring profession\, this talk will challenge assumptions\, spark curiosity\, and show why end‑of‑life care is not just about death — it’s about dignity\, humanity\, and the values that shape us. \n  \nLecturer Profile: Dr Panagiotis Pentaris \n\n  \nOur events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals\, either from school or from home. There is no charge to take part. \nAs a live\, participative event\, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event\, where available. \n  \nSuitable for: Aged 16+ pre-university students studying\, or with a possible interest in studying\, Health & Social Care\, Psychology and related disciplines. Student groups as well as students and teachers joining individually are very welcome. \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: Students may wish to consider the topic in advance and questions they have. Students can also think about questions about studying at university level. \nThe IT Setup: The event will be run on Zoom and participants will be able to join using laptops\, tablets\, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group\, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard. You will be able to interact with the speaker via typed comments and questions and/or via a microphone.
