Health & Social Care: Caring at the Edge of Life – Why End‑of‑Life Care Matters with Dr Panagiotis Pentaris from Goldsmiths, University of London
January 21 @ 14:15 - 15:00
In this Health & Social Care session, Dr Panagiotis Pentaris, Deputy Head of the Department of Social, Therapeutic and Community Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, will lead an interactive scenario-based workshop on End of Life Care.
End‑of‑life care is one of the most profound, challenging, and meaningful areas within health and social care. In this talk, students are invited to explore what it truly means to support people during the final stages of life.
Drawing on real‑world practice, research insights, and ethical dilemmas, we will unpack how professionals balance compassion, communication, and cultural sensitivity when working with individuals and families at their most vulnerable.
The session will highlight the importance of holistic care, interdisciplinary teamwork, and emotional resilience, offering students a window into a field that is both demanding and deeply rewarding.
Whether you’re considering a future in social work, psychology, community work, or any caring profession, this talk will challenge assumptions, spark curiosity, and show why end‑of‑life care is not just about death — it’s about dignity, humanity, and the values that shape us.
