In this Health/Medicine session, Emma Harris and Jamie Cocksedge, Lecturers in Nursing Sciences (Adult) in the School of Health Sciences at University of East Anglia, will run an interactive scenario based workshop for students on End-of-Life Care & Life-Prolonging Treatments.

Emma and Jamie invite you to take the role of a Nurse working in an acute hospital on a busy night shift. One of the patients is ‘Jessica’ and, in this interactive workshop, you will assess and respond to the variety of intricate clinical and psychosocial dilemmas facing ‘Jessica’.

The scenario will explore the clinical strategies and interpersonal skills that are central to offering effective holistic care at this difficult time in someone’s life, from diagnosis to end-of-life care planning. Remember, we only get one chance to get it right.

Throughout, Emma and Jamie will put the exercise into context by introducing the BSc Nursing/Nursing Degree Apprenticeship programmes at UEA, explaining how the course prepares undergraduates for a wide range of skills, knowledge, values and rewarding career opportunities.
