HE Guidance: What Can University Offer BTEC Students? With Becky Foster From University Of East Anglia
19th March 2020 @ 13:00 - 13:45
Are your students currently studying a BTEC? Are they unsure about their next steps after finishing college/school? University could be an amazing option for them.
Take part with your students in this interactive lecture about all of the benefits of university study, with particular focus on BTEC students.
The talk will include: how university courses are taught in comparison to BTECs, how the transferable skills gained by BTEC students can help them to thrive at university, insight into all the support offered at university and discussion about positive impact of university study on graduate employability.
Suitable for: Student groups studying for BTEC qualifications, Level 2 and Level 3
Preparation/Pre-Reading: Students are encouraged to consider and discuss some of the relevant issues and questions they may have about going on to study at university. It is also worth making students aware that it will be interactive and they will have the chance to ask and respond to questions.
The IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype, using a pc and webcam, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available to the school. Further details are here: Connecting in to a Channel Talent Event (Please Click)
We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 4 to 5 schools to maintain the interactive nature of the experience.
Booking a Place: This is free for schools and colleges. If you have a group of students that you would like to take part in this event, please click here
Subject to availability we will book a place for you.
