HE Guidance: Tips For Personal Statements With Hannah Wake and Beth Sturgeon From University Of East Anglia
23rd September 2020 @ 12:45 - 13:45
In this interactive webinar, University of East Anglia will help students to plan and prepare to write a good university Personal Statement as part of a UCAS application by offering a university perspective.
The session will consider the importance of the Personal Statement and cover approaches to help students to write one personal statement for more than one university application.
The university will discuss what makes a good personal statement. In particular, the focus will be on what university admissions tutors are looking for, covering the university context of Personal Statements, what to include, what to avoid, and how to get going, as well as looking at some examples of personal statements.
Our events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures.
Suitable for: Year 13 students planning to apply to university.
Preparation or Pre-Reading: We recommend that students prepare in advance some questions relevant to their potential HE application and, if they are at this stage, to think about any issues they might be facing with writing their Personal Statement.
The IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans and participants will be able to join using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard. You will be able to interact with the university via a microphone and/or typed comments and questions. Full details will be sent to those who have registered (see below) prior to the event.
Booking a Place: This is free for schools and colleges. If you would like to take part in this event, please register your interest using the link to the registration form below:
