HE Guidance: Making The Most Of … University Fairs (Face to Face) With Lily Wearden From Aberystwyth University

September 21 @ 13:00 - 13:30

We are delighted to present the Making the Most of … series from Aberystwyth University which looks at all the different decisions that you need to make throughout your time in the sixth form; be it making the most of the sixth form in the first instance, to your well-being, and attending University fairs physically and virtually, Open Days and so much more…

In this webinar, lasting no more than 30 minutes, we will be providing 6 key areas that you need to consider and the tips and techniques you can take on board for Making the Most of … University Fairs (Face to Face).

Higher Education Fairs/ Careers Exhibitions can be busy and overwhelming events where it can be easy to collect 50 prospectuses without any useful insight. These events, if you know how to approach them, are a fantastic opportunity to gather incredibly valuable information to help you make informed decisions about your future.

This session will provide advice and guidance to help you feel prepared to approach these events in the best possible mindset in order to ensure you get everything you can out of your time.

We will be focusing on these six key areas:

  • Researching institutions beforehand
  • Organising your own priorities for universities you may consider
  • Knowing what to say and how to say it
  • How to effectively use your time at the event
  • Keeping an open mind and making sure each interaction is worthwhile
  • What to do with all of this information afterwards!

If you will be attending a HE Fair or Careers Convention this session will help you get everything you can out of the event so you can move forward in the process without feeling overwhelmed by the options available to you.

Lily Wearden, one of Aberystwyth’s renowned Student Recruitment Officers, will provide her own experiences alongside current students and will be posing questions for you to consider.
