We are delighted to present the Making the Most of … series from Aberystwyth University which looks at all the different decisions that you need to make throughout your time in the sixth form; be it making the most of the sixth form in the first instance, to your well-being, and attending University fairs physically and virtually, Open Days and so much more…

Have you just started Year 12/ FE Year 1?

Trying to find your way through the maze that is your new Sixth Form/ College life?

Looking forward to what the next two years will bring, but would like some advice to help you on your journey?

Come and join us for this quick fire 30 minute session, where we’ll look at six key areas on how you can make the most of your Sixth Form life! Areas we’ll be focusing on include:

  • Things to consider during your Sixth Form academic journey
  • The importance of engagement with others during Sixth Form
  • Effective self-planning
  • Why super and extra curricular activities are critical
  • Consideration of next steps
  • And don’t forget… a lucky dip section with some final hints and tips!

We’re hosting this session in early September, just after you’ve started Sixth Form, so that you can really hit the ground running! The next two years will fly by so don’t waste a second and come and hear from our expert, as you never know what hints and tips you will integrate into your school/college life from the very next day.

Jeff Chilton, one of Aberystwyth’s renowned Student Recruitment Officers, will provide his own experiences alongside current students and will be posing questions for you to consider in each topic area.

Our events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of school closures.

 

Suitable for: Students who have just started Sixth Form/ College life and want to get some hints and tips as to how to make the most of their time over the next two years Learners can be studying any subject(s) and can take part in student groups or as individuals. Advisers, teachers and parents are very welcome too.

Preparation or Pre-Reading: There is no formal preparation or pre-reading but participants may like to consider in advance some questions relevant to the topic.

The IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans and participants will be able to join using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard. You will be able to interact with the university via a microphone and/or typed comments and questions. Full details will be sent to those who have registered (see below) prior to the event.
