DESCRIPTION:Register Here \n  \n \n  \n \n\n  \nAre your students anxious about facing exams? Maybe they’re feeling uncertain about how the next few years will work out for them? Or are they just struggling to get motivated generally?  \nIn uncertain times\, it’s more important than ever for students to look after themselves. In this session\, Dr Dominique Thompson – an award-winning GP and young people’s mental health expert – will help them to identify stress and share some of the practical tips and useful tools they can use to help cope with these issues.  \nWe will look at:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom perfectionism to procrastination – it can sometimes be hard to get a good balance in your studies and life! The session will cover academic challenges\, building confidence\, preparing for life after school\, and staying well in uncertain times (dealing with anxiety) as well as exam related stress! Full of practical advice and top tips from a GP who has looked after thousands of students.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe aim of the session is to offer students tools and techniques to maintain and improve their wellbeing\, helping them to feel more motivated and in control as they navigate assessments and the transition to university/life beyond sixth form or college. There will also be a chance for you or your students to put questions to Dominique.  \n  \nAbout the speaker  \nDominique is an award-winning GP\, young people’s mental health expert\, TEDx speaker\, author and educator\, with two decades of clinical experience.  \nShe is author of The Student Wellbeing Series (Trigger Press)\, and co-author of How to Grow a Grown Up (PenguinRandomHouse).  \nIn 2021 Dom was delighted to be shortlisted alongside academic colleagues from the University of Nottingham for a THE Award – ‘Hungry for Words (Men get eating disorders too)’.  \nDom has done two TEDx talks; ‘What I learnt from 78000 GP consultations with university students’  and ‘Understanding Why’.  \nShe is a chapter author for Student Mental Health & Wellbeing in Higher Education: A practical guide (Sage).   \nDom is a Clinical Advisor for NICE\, RCGP and Student Minds.  \nDom is lead clinical advisor for Aardman Animation’s What’s Up with Everyone? campaign\, and for Being Well\, Living Well Epigeum.  \nFurther information about Dom www.buzzconsulting.co.uk and www.growingagrownup.com (parenting support and free resources).  \n\n  \nOur events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals\, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures. \nAs a live\, participative event\, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event\, where available. \n  \nSuitable for: Year 12 and 13 students (and equivalent). \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: Students may like to consider their current situation and how they are feeling and coping with the unusual circumstances we find ourselves in\, together with their thoughts about finishing their current studies and moving on. \nThe IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans (similar to Zoom) and participants will be able to join using laptops\, tablets\, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group\, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard. You will be able talk directly with Dominique via a microphone or use the chat facility if preferred. Full details will be sent to those who have registered (see below) prior to the event. \nBooking a Place: This is free for schools and colleges. If you would like to take part in this event\, please register your interest using the link to the registration form below: \nRegister Here \n  \n\n
