HE Guidance: Clearing and Adjustment 2021 With Elizabeth McCullough & Jennifer Geary From Goldsmiths, University of London

12th May 2021 @ 17:00 - 18:00

It’s been another year of constant change. Choosing a subject, course and university when there are so many variables to consider has been tough. You may love your Firm and Insurance choices but are worried about getting the grades to get in. Or you may be re-visiting your decisions and wondering if you could change course or university.

In this session, we’ll consider the choices you have in the summer through Clearing and Adjustment. We’ll explain how universities make decisions and choose between ‘near miss’ offer-holders, and when to submit mitigating circumstances that have affected your grades. There are lots of courses with places still available in July and August. We’ll look at the research you can do now so that you make an informed decision about which courses and universities you want to apply to during Clearing.

Elizabeth McCullough is UK Student Recruitment Manager and Jennifer Geary is Head of Admissions at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Our events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures.

As a live, participative event, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event, where available.

Suitable for: Year 13 students (and equivalent). Teachers, advisers and parents are welcome too.

Preparation/Pre-Reading: Students may wish to consider questions they have about applying to university through Clearing.

The IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans and participants will be able to join using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard. You will be able to interact with the university via a microphone and/or typed comments and questions. Full details will be sent to those who have registered (see below) prior to the event.

Booking a Place: This is free for schools and colleges. If you would like to take part in this event, please register your interest using the link to the registration form below:
