DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nDuring this interactive online lecture\, Daniel Warkup from The University of Sheffield will deliver a Personal Statement talk that aims to give students the competitive edge when applying to Russell Group universities. \nThe session will address the impact of the Personal Statement and provide students with a starting point to write effective statements of their own. Through close working relationships with admissions teams\, Sheffield is able to talk about what admissions tutors are looking for\, how to stand out from the crowd\, the pitfalls and things to avoid. \nThe session will provide students with all the information they need to get started and during the session we will provide a platform for pupils to interact directly with the session leader to address any questions that remain unanswered in our Q&A section. \n\n\nSuitable for: Year 12 students applying to\, or with an interest in applying to\, Russell Group universities. \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: There is no specific preparation or pre-reading for this sessions although we recommend that students think about questions they might have about their Personal Statement. The session is interactive which means that students will have the opportunity to ask and respond to questions. \nThe IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype\, using a pc and webcam\, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available to the school. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event.
