HE Choices: Tips For Personal Statements With Ruth Walton From The University Of Winchester
29th September 2016 @ 09:30 - 10:30
In this session Ruth Walton will help students to think ahead, by planning and preparing to write a good university personal statement as part of a UCAS application.
The session will consider the importance of the personal statement and cover approaches to help students to write one personal statement for more than one university application.
Ruth will discuss with your students what makes a good personal statement. In particular she will focus on what university admissions tutors are looking for.
Suitable for: All Year 13 students.
Preparation or Pre-Reading: We recommend that students prepare in advance some questions relevant to their potential HE application.
The IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype, using a pc and webcam, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available in the school. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 3 or 4 schools to maintain the interactive nature of the experience.
Booking a Place: If you have a group that you would like to take part in this event, please contact us via email, letting us know whether you would like to join the 26th September or the 29th September session. We will book your place subject to availability.
After the Event: If students have any questions following the video conference, please encourage them to email Winchester.
