We are delighted to present the Before, During and Beyond … series from Aberystwyth University in which each event focuses on a particular subject area to introduce the decisions that need to be made before choosing a degree course, the study period itself and how University alumni have succeeded beyond studying the course.
Before, During & Beyond … Biology – Cells to Humans, covering Genetics, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Human Biology & Health, Sport & Exercise Science, has the following objectives:
- To provide insight into the process of applying to study Genetics, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Human Biology & Health, Sport & Exercise Science at University.
- To explore what it is actually like to study Genetics, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Human Biology & Health, Sport & Exercise Science at University (including topics, forms of teaching, and research project opportunities).
- To consider career opportunities that a Genetics, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Human Biology & Health, Sport & Exercise Science degree can open up.
The session will include talks from a University Lecturer and a graduate.
This is a great chance for Year 11, 12 & 13 students (and equivalent) to hear about how to prepare to study undergraduate courses, the graduates’ university experience, and how this has prepared them for their current roles.
There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and to find out about the decisions the university alumni have made also.
The format is accessible, friendly, informative and participative.

Suitable for: Years 11, 12 and 13 or equivalent students. This session will be of interest primarily to those students who are considering studying Genetics, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, Human Biology & Health, Sport & Exercise Science and related subjects.
Preparation or Pre-Reading: There is no formal preparation or pre-reading but participants may like to consider in advance some questions relevant to the subject area.
The IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans and participants will be able to join using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. You will be able to interact with the university via a microphone and/or typed comments and questions. Full details will be sent to those who have registered (see below) prior to the event.
