Extended Project Qualification: Presenting The EPQ With Becky Naylor-Teece From University of Southampton
5th March 2025 @ 14:00 - 14:45
This sixth and final session in our EPQ series will be delivered by Becky Naylor-Teece, an Academic Skills Officer for the Learn with US Transition programme at the University of Southampton.
The aim of this session is to provide guidance for students planning, structuring and delivering their presentation for their EPQ.
Objectives:
- Consider design tips for preparing and structuring a presentation in a coherent and well-organised manner.
- Explore presentation techniques to convey the project’s main ideas to illustrate how the project components are synthesised.
- Provide strategies for practising and delivering the EPQ in a way which exercises strong communication skills.
Preparatory Work
Though it is not essential to complete the preparatory work before the session, you might find the session even more useful if you have completed the following task:
Watch our YouTube video titled ‘Presenting the EPQ’ and make notes. You may want to specifically focus on answering the following 3 questions:
- What are 3 tips for designing a PowerPoint presentation? (6:21)
- Identify at least 3 ways you can ensure you are reflective about your EPQ during your presentation? (8:13)
- Identify 3 presentation skills you should be aware of when delivering your presentation? (13:44)
Please note that, although the session is scheduled to end at 14:45, Becky will stay on until 15:00 to answer further questions.
