Extended Project Qualification: A research toolkit for EPQ students with Elizabeth McCullough from Goldsmiths, University of London
19th September 2018 @ 12:55 - 13:45
This interactive session will give students an introduction to what the Extended Qualification Project (EPQ) is and the benefits of taking this research-based qualification.
We’ll cover the basics of project management, developing and refining a working title, and finding credible, online, academic sources for your students’ projects.
Session Leader: Elizabeth McCullough
Suitable for: This lecture would be appropriate for any Year 12 student(s) studying or interested in undertaking the Extended Qualification Project, who is currently at the beginning or the early stages of the EPQ.
Preparation/Pre-Reading:Goldsmiths will provide the school co-ordinator with a ‘project planning activity’ be completed by participants prior to the session. This activity takes no longer than 10 minutes and can be set as homework.
The IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype, using a pc and webcam, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available to the school. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 3 to 5 schools to maintain the interactive nature of the experience.
