English Language/Literature: Approaches To Analysing Previously Unseen Texts With Dr David Nowell-Smith From University Of East Anglia

26th November 2020 @ 14:00 - 15:00

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED

How do we analyse an unseen text?

In this interactive masterclass, Dr David Nowell Smith of UEA will introduce students to strategies and approaches that offer any easy way to unlock the workings of even the most complex text.

We’ll focus on one short text, highlighting general strategies and having an opportunity to test them out together.

Our events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures.

Lecturer Profile (Please Click): Dr David Nowell-Smith

Suitable for: Year 12 & 13 English students. Teachers and members of school staff, as always, are welcome too, particularly where you are joining as a group along with your students.

Preparation or Pre-Reading: We recommend that students consider in advance some questions relevant to their interest in analysing texts and challenges they may be facing.

The IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans and participants will be able to join using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard.
