Economics/Geography: Why are Some Countries Richer Than Others? Questions and Answers from Economics and Other Social Sciences with Dr Ivano Cardinale/Dr Constantinos Repapis from Goldsmiths, University of London

15th June 2018 @ 14:15 - 15:15

In this lecture we ask one of the most important question in economics: why are some countries richer than others?

We will discuss what answers different economists have given, and how other social sciences can contribute to the debate.

Expect an interactive session, in which we will challenge common wisdom and reflect on how the tools of economics can be contextualized within the broader social, historical and political context.

The lecture will also give us the chance to talk about what it is like to study economics at University, and the different approaches that are followed in different Universities.
