Economics: Current UK Economic Performance With Dr Efthymia Argyraki From University of Leicester
4th June 2025 @ 10:10 - 10:55
In this Economics session, Dr Efthymia Argyraki, a leading academic at University of Leicester, will run an interactive talk for students on Current UK Economic Performance.
Economic performance refers to how effectively a country’s economy functions and achieves its goals, evaluated through various economic indicators which provide insights into the overall health and stability of the economy. This session aims to explore the current state of the UK economy examining a number of key economic indicators. Economic growth measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), along with inflation, interest rates, unemployment and balance of payments will be discussed. Analysing and understanding how these factors influence the economic landscape provides a comprehensive view of the UK’s economic performance.
This session also aims to compare the current UK economic performance against other economies focusing on these key economic indicators. It will also discuss current economic forecasts, including those from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in the context of global challenges.
