Economics: An Online Interactive Taster Day With The University Of Sheffield
23rd April 2020 @ 09:15 - 10:15
Discover Economics Taster Session
‘What’s the value of a degree?’
The taster lecture will discuss the economic theory of human capital, describing what factors individuals take into account when deciding whether to invest in education. This will lead into a discussion of the wage benefits of obtaining a degree, and how such benefits are estimated using econometric methods.
This will illustrate to the students the use of theory and evidence in analysing economic decisions, focusing on a decision which should be of interest to Year 12 students. The taster lecture will include interactive elements, asking questions of the students. The taster lecture will be followed by a Q&A session with student ambassadors.
This session is now fully booked.
Suitable for: Year 12. You don’t need to be studying economics at A Level to participate in this session. We would love for students not studying economics who might be studying other subjects (Maths, Psychology, Geography and Business) to find out what economics is like at University.
