Drama: Outdoor Arts – Being Spectacular With Mark Tillotson & Viv Kerridge From Bishop Grosseteste University
17th June 2021 @ 14:15 - 15:15
Join Mark Tillotson & Viv Kerridge for an introduction into the exciting and progressive world of outdoor performance.
This introduction will show you a world where :-
- Performers fly through the air.
- Grand pianos are catapulted over audiences.
- Where giants walk through the streets of our towns and cities.
For many years the world of outdoor arts has been exploring new and exciting forms of performance. In lots of ways it has surpassed the indoor theatre as the space for developing art. BGU is one of the few universities that offer opportunities in this ancient but also cutting-edge art form.
Participants will watch some examples on-line and discuss the role of Outdoor Arts, its similarities and differences to indoor theatre, the role of the audience and the different skills needed. The session will be delivered by an active practitioner in this area
Our events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures.
As a live, participative event, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event, where available.
