Devising Contemporary Theatre Workshop with Dr Georgia Bowers from Guildford School of Acting, University of Surrey
March 18 @ 16:30 - 17:15
In this Devising Contemporary Theatre Workshop, Dr Georgia Bowers, Programme Leader of Applied and Contemporary Theatre at the Guildford School of Acting, University of Surrey, will run an interactive workshop that explores how simple stimuli, such as images, can be used to create characters and theatre. Together, we will consider who this character is, what issues they are facing and what possible solutions can be used to help overcome their obstacles.
This session is designed to give you an insight into contemporary theatre practices, such as devising theatre, and a taster of what it is like to train at one of the UK’s leading conservatories. You will be required to turn your cameras on, share your thoughts and work collectively as we make a small piece of theatre in 45 minutes. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions about Applied and Contemporary Theatre at GSA and what it is like to train at a drama school. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance but yourself and come ready to discuss, suggest ideas and work with others in the virtual space.
Here is a short welcome and introduction from Georgia in advance of the live workshop:
