DESCRIPTION: \n  \nIn this interactive webinar\, Helen Kempster from the Careers Service at Goldsmiths\, University of London\, will discuss opportunities in the Creative Industries. \nThe objectives of the session are for Year 12 students: \n\nTo understand their own skills\, values and interests in relation to a career;\nTo understand the roles available within the creative industries;\nTo consider their own skills\, values and interests in relation to their future career;\nTo develop an action plan for their next steps.\n\nRelevant to students studying or interested in Art\, Design\, Theatre and Performance\, Film\, Media and Communications\, Textiles\, Marketing\, or Music\, Helen will take a step back and discuss what the creative industries are. \nThen\, building on the interests of those taking part\, Helen will discuss what jobs are available and how to build a career. The session will give students some ideas of career paths within the creative industries and how they can make the most of higher education. \nFollowing the event\, a range of multi-media resources will be made available to the teachers involved. \nSponsored by Goldsmiths\, this session is free for schools and colleges to participate in. \nTechnology: If the school does not have dedicated videoconferencing equipment\, the setup is similar to Skype\, using a pc and webcam. Students will\, however\, take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 3 or 4 schools to maintain the interactive nature of the experience. Everyone can see and hear each other. \nSuitable for: Year 12 students studying\, or interested in\, Art\, Design\, Theatre and Performance\, Film\, Media and Communications\, Textiles\, Marketing\, Music. \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: None required. \n
