SUMMARY:Computer Science: Scenario Workshop - Managing Cyber Attack: Navigating Data Breach Incident & Response With Dr Rizwan Asghar & Professor Helen Treharne From University of Surrey
DESCRIPTION:Register here \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nLet’s look at a cyber attack scenario that involves money loss and highlights the incident reporting process. In this interactive workshop\, you will assess and respond to information about a potential data breach\, navigating a variety of aspects that a cyber security officer manages in an organisation. \nThe scenario will introduce the complex circumstances cyber security officers regularly find themselves in\, and the processes they need to follow\, which are recommended by the international standards bodies. Rizwan will step through the scenario with you and explore what your responsibilities are. \nHelen will then put the exercise into context of how this scenario is one aspect of security and how a Computer Science degree contains more opportunities to explore cyber security and how having skills to respond to incidents prepares undergraduates for rewarding careers in cyber security. \nWe invite you to participate in the dialogue as the data breach unfolds or simply observe\, with an opportunity at the end to ask any questions about cyber security in computer science courses. \n  \nLecturer Profiles: \nRizwan Asghar is an Associate Professor in the Surrey Centre for Cyber Security within the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. He has over 18 years of experience as a cyber security practitioner and academic. His research interests include cyber security\, cyber resilience\, and privacy. \nHelen Treharne is the Head of School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and a Professor of Computer Science. She has over 25 years of teaching experience and is involved in the teaching of information security management. Her research expertise is in useable security and formal verification. \n\n  \nOur events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals\, either from school or from home. There is no charge to take part. \nAs a live\, participative event\, this session will not be recorded but slides and other resources will be shared after the event\, where available. \n  \nSuitable for: Key Stage 5 students (and equivalent) studying\, or with a possible interest in studying\, Computer Science and related disciplines. \nPreparation/Pre-Reading: Students may wish to consider the topic in advance\, with respect to actions and skills they think might be required or questions they have. Students can also think about questions they have about studying at university level. \nThe IT Setup: The event will be run on Zoom and participants will be able to join using laptops\, tablets\, and mobile devices. If you are joining as a school group\, we recommend connecting with one device and projecting on to a whiteboard. You will be able to interact with the university via typed comments and questions and/or a microphone. Full details will be sent to those who have registered (see below) prior to the event. \nBooking a Place: This is free for schools and colleges. If you would like to take part in this event\, please register your interest using the link to the registration form below: \n  \nRegister here \n  \n
