Careers: Find Out About Careers in The Police Service with Inspector Tim Tubbs from British Transport Police
14th November 2017 @ 11:00 - 12:00
Ever wondered what it’s like to be in charge of policing one of the UK’s busiest train stations? Are you interested to hear more about what it’s like to be a police officer?
In this interactive webinar, Inspector Tim Tubbs from British Transport Police talks about his career so far, a day in the life of a police officer and gives advice for young people aspiring for a career in the police service.
He talks about how young people can keep themselves safe whilst using the rail network, and about the work of Britain’s national police service for the railways.
He also talks about the British Transport Police cadets, which are currently recruiting for cadets and cadet leaders in North London and Birmingham.
Suitable for: Year 12s and Year 13s in the Birmingham and London regions wanting to find out more about a possible career in the police.
Preparation/Pre-Reading: There is no pre-reading/preparation required although students may wish to think about questions they would like to ask Tim relating to his experiences and also relating to joining the police. Students will be invited to ask questions and share their ideas during the event.
The IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype, using a pc and webcam, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available to the school. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 3 or 4 schools/colleges to maintain the interactive nature of the experience.
Booking a Place: If you have a group of students that you would like to take part in this event, please contact us via email or via the contact form at the top right of this webpage (or at the bottom if you are on a mobile device). Subject to availability we will book a place for you.
