Business: Business & Ethics: Can Business and Ethics be Natural Bedfellows or are They a Contradiction in Terms? by Joe Doak, Claire Fenton, Peter Cook & Carol Padgett, Henley Business School
19th June 2014 @ 13:15 - 15:15
The Henley Business School Summer Symposium 2014 will look at this question from four different perspectives. Looking at a leading multinational company, each speaker will take a different aspect of the company and examine how ethical their policies, procedures and practices are. Each talk will use the pecha kucha format of 20 slides each shown for 20 seconds.
Following the talks there will be time for each school to discuss a relevant issue or question followed by a chaired discussion of the topic. At the end there will be a brief plenary session bringing together the points made and schools will be able to vote on whether or not you think it is possible to run a successful company whilst still retaining ethical policies, standards and practices.
All four of our speakers are from the Henley Business School, University of Reading:
• Claire Fenton is a Lecturer in Accounting with interests in corporate social responsibility;
• Joe Doak is an Associate Professor in Urban Planning & Development who has undertaken research into sustainable real estate investment and development;
• Dr Peter Cook is a Lecturer in Business & Management with years of experience in senior management;
• Associate Professor Carol Padgett is a Lecturer in Finance with a particular focus on ethics.
Suitable for: Year 12
