Astrophysics: Space Exploration – A Taste of Astrophysics With Dr Rachel Cross From Aberystwyth University

We are delighted to present the Taste Of series from Aberystwyth University which showcases different subject disciplines. Students will be engaged in a lively interactive discussion that provides enrichment of their current studies whilst bringing to life the wealth of academic possibilities available at university.
In Space Exploration – A Taste of Astrophysics, an interactive lecture, physicists from Aberystwyth University will discuss how we are working on current and future space exploration missions. Students will be asked regular questions during the session and are free to asks questions throughout.
Physicists are central to our understanding of the universe and our place in it; from our local environment here on Earth to our Solar System and the understanding of our source of life – our star the Sun – all the way out to far reaching explorations of further systems.
In this session, we will discuss some of the research physicists at Aberystwyth University are involved in and the skills they need to undertake this exciting research.

Suitable for: Year 10 to Year 13 students studying or with an interest in Physics, Astrophysics, Materials Science, Engineering, or related subjects.
Preparation or Pre-Reading: There is no formal preparation or pre-reading but participants may like to consider in advance some questions relevant to the subject area.
The IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans and participants will be able to join using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. You will be able to interact with the university via a microphone and/or typed comments and questions. Full details will be sent to those who have registered (see below) prior to the event.
