Astrobiology & Natural Sciences: Finding Life On Other Planets & Studying Natural Sciences With Dr Sarah Gretton, University Of Leicester

19th November 2019 @ 13:30 - 14:15

Explore the possibilities for life across the Universe in our interactive webinar on Astrobiology. Participants will have the opportunity to consider key questions, such as “What do we need for life?” and “If life exists how do we detect it?”

Dr Sarah Gretton,, Natural Sciences (Life and Physical Sciences) Programme Director at University of Leicester, will also discuss how the Drake equation attempts to address the question of detecting intelligent life in the Universe.

During the talk, students will hear about Natural Sciences and the great study opportunities offered by Leicester, along with related employability and careers in this field. Please see further details below.

About Natural Sciences Natural Sciences is often perceived as a traditional elite science programme offered by Cambridge.  If you have pupils that are interested in studying Natural Sciences at somewhere other than Cambridge,  Leicester offers an award-winning interdisciplinary Natural Sciences course for high calibre students that want to continue studying more than one Science at University.  That’s not to say that they can’t specialise.  Leicester’s bespoke modules designed for Natural Sciences students allow for specialisation from year two in an interdisciplinary context.  Our course will shape young minds giving them opportunities to write real journal articles on topical science whilst equipping them to be highly employable scientists with excellent communication and collaboration skills. Also, for students that didn’t select the ‘right’ A-levels, Leicester’s Foundation Course offers a unique pathway into a strong Natural Sciences degree.
