At The Medic Portal we are passionate about helping prospective medical students with the application process, helping them realise their dreams of studying medicine.
We educate over 300,000 individuals each year and are in official partnership with the Royal Society of Medicine.
The application process is daunting and ever-changing. It can be difficult to keep up to date with the latest developments and changes. In this webinar, Dr Ricardo Tavares will provide a comprehensive 45-minute talk, offering an overview of all the steps of the application process. This pays particular attention to timelines and how to boost your Personal Statement.
The talk is perfect for school medical societies.
“We all enjoyed, and benefited greatly from your inspiring and informative talk. The boys have a great deal to consider over the next few terms and these events help to demystify matters and alleviate concerns many experience when facing important decisions. I am exceedingly grateful to you for making the afternoon such a success”
The talk includes:
• UCAS and selecting medical schools
• Boosting your Personal Statement
• Introduction to the UKCAT and BMAT
• Preparing for the interview
Suitable for: Year 11/12 Students, Headteachers, Heads of Careers, & Parents

Preparation or Pre-Reading: There is no specific preparation/pre-reading but we recommend that students think around the subject and consider some questions in advance.
The IT Setup: The setup is similar to Skype, using a pc and webcam, although students take part as a group with the image projected on a whiteboard rather than as individuals in front of lots of pcs. Dedicated videoconferencing equipment is also compatible if available to the school. We will work with your IT department to ensure everything is set up and working prior to the event. The sessions are generally limited to 3 or 4 schools to maintain the interactive nature of the experience.
Booking a Place: If you have a group of students that you would like to take part in this event, please contact us via email or via the contact form at the top right of this webpage (or the bottom if you are on a mobile device). Subject to availability we will book a place for you.
